Funeral services for Dorothy E. Payne, 89, of Des Moines were held November 20 at the Wesley Acres Community Room in Des Moines, the Rev. William Steward of the Grace United Methodist Church officiated. Music was provided by David Kvernstoen, organist and Kathi Fieldsend, vocalist.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Miss Payne was born in Alberta, Canada and had lived in Pella before moving to Des Moines in 1936. She was a retired office and assistant corporate secretary with Bankers Life. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, PEO chapter EH and Order of the Eastern Star.

She had been a Red Cross Gray Lady and received a Central College Distinguished Alumni Award in 1975. She enjoyed traveling. She died of a heart ailment November 17 at Wesley Acres.

She is survived by a sister, Lillian M. Payne of Des Moines.

Arrangements were handled by Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Memorials may be made to her church or Central College in Pella.
