Memorial services for Terry (T.O.) Owens, 62, of Pella were held June 29, 2002 at the Gateway Golf Course in Monroe, the Rev. Michael Kuhn officiating. Music was provided by musical selections chosen by the family.

A private family burial will be at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers were Jody Broderson, Bob Doty, Duane Jennings, Joe St. Peter, Mike Schrader, Terry Trotter and Ernie Wallace.

Terry (T.O.) Owens, the son of Edris "Soapy" and Thelma May Wicks Owens, was born on March 1, 1940, in Colfax. He was a graduate of Newton High School in 1958. Terry was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State College, where he received his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education. Terry taught at the PCM Community Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

He also worked at Gateway Recreation-Golf Course in Monroe for 30 years. Terry was currently the Golf Course Superintendent. He lived in Monroe for 23 years prior to moving to Pella, where he had lived the past eight years.

Terry was united in marriage to Jolene K. (Jo) Zickel on January 1, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nev. Terry was a dedicated and loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Terry died on June 26, 2002, at Pella Regional Health Center in Pella. He was 62.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Jo: son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Owens of Denver, Colorado; his two daughters and son-in-law, Tami and Arland Lamb and Steph Langstraat, all of Pella; 4 grandchildren: Brittany, Brianna, Brady and Blake Lamb, all of Pella; his brother, Roger Owens of Des Moines and 2 sisters, Nancy Shanks of Clearwater, Florida and Linda Gifford of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements were handled by Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

Memorials may be made to the Terry Owens Gateway Memorial Fund.
