Funeral services for Leona Van Manen, 90, of Sully, who died March 5, were held March 9, at the First Reformed Church in Sully. Rev. Roger Punt and Brice Hoyt officiated the service. Linda Schnell was organist with Doris Ring Interpreter. Mark and Jim Van Manen were vocalists.

Interment was at the Sully Cemetery in Sully. Casket bearers were her grandsons Lonnie Van Manen, Matt Van Manen, Kevin Van Manen, Eric Van Manen, Todd Van Manen, Mark Van Manen and James Van Manen.

Leona Van Manen, daughter of Marinus J. and Maggie (Goemaat) De Zwarte, was born December 23, 1913, in Pella. On Feb. 24, 1936, she married John W. Van Manen of Kellogg. To this union four sons were born.

The family farmed in the Kellogg and Reasnor area until John and Leona retired and moved to Sully in December, 1969. John passed away on October 20, 1987. Leona was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sully.

She is survived by her four sons and their wives, Marion J. and Jackie of Des Moines, Ronald L. and Trudy of Kellogg, Richard E. and Karen of Reasnor, David D. and Marlys of Pleasant Hill; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother Bernard and his wife Wilma De Zwarte of Newton; two sisters, Marjorie Van Genderen of Sully and Reva Van Wyk of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Memorials may be made to the First Reformed Church in Sully Building Fund.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
