Funeral services for Marion "Joe" Huisman, 87, who died March 1, were held March 6 at the Estel Perrin Avey Chapel with Rev. Darrell Mitchell officiating.
Interment was at Riverside Cemetery.

Marion was born July 25, 1916 in Otley, the son of Cornelius and Marie Moejes Huisman. He was reared and educated in Otley.

On August 6, 1941 in Nebraska City, he was united in marriage to Dorothy May Bennett and they resided in different communities before moving to Marshalltown in 1951.

He was a building contractor, carpenter and owner -operator of Huisman Construction Company in Marshalltown, retiring in 1972. He was active in AA, United Methodist Church and Civilian Conservation Corps.

On May 23, 1998 he was married to Ethel Curson at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown.

He is survived by his wife Ethel; a son and his spouse, Larry and Lindy Huisman of Ames, two daughters and their spouses Linda and Doug Hunter of Roseville, Ca. and Betty Lee Lichtenberg Huisman of Blue Grass. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, first wife Dorothy, and nine brothers and sisters; Gert, Neil, Arnold, Nellie, Ralph, Margaret, Anna, Martha and Arie.
