Funeral services for Howard Gosselink, 76, of Pella, who died March 3, were held March 8, at the Covenant Reformed Church in Pella. A Family Prayer Service by Rev. John H. Piersma and Rev. Patrick Edouard, officiated the service. Edith Meppelink, accompanist and Doug Van Gorp was the soloist.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella with military honors by the Van Veen-Van Hemert American Legion Post No. 89 of Pella. Casket bearers were his grandchildren.

Howard Paul Gosselink was born on April 19, 1927 to John Henry and Kathryn Keuning Gosselink. Howard attended the Liberty Corner country grade school for five years and then graduated from both the Pella Christian Grade and Pella Christian High Schools in Pella.

Howard joined the Navy when he was 17 years old, after having to convince his parents to sign for him. He was stationed in the Navy for 13 months on the destroyer the "USS Perkins" on the Pacific Ocean. After returning home, Howard farmed with his father for three years.

On July 19, 1949, Howard was united in marriage with Josephine Van Den Berg at the Otley Christian Reformed Church parsonage. To this union four children were born: Nancy Ann, Karen Sue, John Calvin and James Paul.

Howard was employed by the U. S. Postal Service for 33 years, retiring in March of 1989.

He is survived by his wife Josephine, and their four children and their spouses and their families: Nancy A. and Ted Zylstra of Pella; Karen S. and Stan Rempe of Otley; John C. and Marlene Gosselink of Pella; James P. and Barbara Gosselink of Leighton. Howard is also survived by his sister, Helene Ver Meer and his brother, Robert Gosselink and his wife, Ruth Ann all of Pella.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kathryn Gosselink.
