Graveside funeral services for Betty June Zeck, 74, of Knoxville, who died Saturday, May 24, 2003 at her home, were held Tuesday, May 27, at Eureka Cemetery in Harvey. Pastor Charles Rutter officiated at the services. Music was provided by Janice Rutter.

Betty was born on July 7, 1928, in Harvey, the daughter of Marvin and Margaret (Vander Veer) Lash. She was raised in Harvey and graduated from high school there. As a young woman, she traveled all over the U.S. with her family picking fruits, vegetables and cotton.

On December 14, 1947 she married Wayne Zeck in Unionville, Mo. The couple traveled pipeline construction for about four years before moving to Knoxville. Betty and Wayne raised their family and ran a construction business. Their home became a house of refuge for anyone in need of help.

Betty became a mom and grandma to many children and everyone was always welcome in her home.

In later years, she became a minister and assistant pastor of her church, the Apostolic Crossroads. She had a very strong faith and was a prayer warrior and always lived a Christian life.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents; her husband, Wayne; a brother, a sister, and two infant great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Sheila Van Vark and husband Dave of Knoxville; her adopted daughter, Linda Kirby of Knoxville; daughter, Margaret Millison and husband Ernest of Knoxville; step-daughter, Linda Clark and husband Tom of Green Top, Mo.; a sister, Leona Vander Ecken and husband John of Melcher-Dallas; a brother, Steve Lash and wife Crystal of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Crossroads Church of Knoxville.

Arrangements were made by Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
