Funeral services for Henry C. Muilenberg, 77, of Pella were held January 22 at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella, the Pastor Ken Schepel officiated. Music was provided by organist Maryan De Haan.

Interment was at the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella with Military services by the Van Veen - Van Hemert American Legion Post #89. Casket bearers were Robert Callahan, Paul Muilenberg, Bryon Wolfe, Michael Callahan, Thomas Muilenberg and Arvin Van Waardhuizen.

Henry Cornelius Muilenberg, the son of Cornelius and Katherine (Van De Kieft) Muilenberg, was born May 25, 1925 in Pella. Henry grew up in Pella and graduated from Pella Community High School.

He served in the Pacific Theater with the United States Navy Armed Guard from 1943-1946.

On September 11, 1948, Henry was united in marriage with Gail Edwards in Oskaloosa.

Henry was an engineer at the Pella Municipal Light Plant for 37 years, retiring on May 25, 1987. He was a member of the American Legion.

He passed away at the Pella Regional Health Center on Sunday, January 19, 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Gail of Pella; two sons: Gary Muilenberg and his wife, Susan of Eagan, Minn., and John Muilenberg of Pella; a daughter, Shirley Callahan and Bob Cameron of Knoxville; seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Cornelius and Katherine Muilenberg; and a great-granddaughter, Halia Dietz-Callahan.

Arrangements were handled by Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Pella Comfort House.
