MCCOMBER, HASSELMAN, VAN WOERKOM

Funeral services for Artie A. McComber, 96, of Pella, who died Tuesday, June 3, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa, were held Thursday, June 5, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Pastor Norm Kolenbrander officiated at the services. Music was provided by Ilda Lou Van Zee, organist and Jill Vande Weerd, soloist.

Interment was at the Bethany Cemetery in rural Pella. Casketbearers were LeRoy Van Zee, Larry Cogley, Doug Van Zee, and Francis Hasselman.

Artie, the daughter of Gus and Alice (Van Woerkom) Hasselman, was born September 25, 1906 in Granville, Mahaska County, Iowa. On September 9, 1947 she married Frank McComber. Frank died on October 13, 1974.

Artie lived in Marshalltown for many years before moving to Pella in 1993. While living in Marshalltown, she was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church. When Artie moved to Pella, she became a member of the Trinity Reformed Church. Recently, Artie had resided at Georgian Court in Oskaloosa. When Artie was younger, she loved going to the farm and seeing the horses.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Agnes Mol.

She is survived by her step-children, Larry McComber of Marshalltown, Dennis McComber of Wisconsin, and Patricia Bergstrom of Ogden; a brother and his wife, Francis and Darlene Hasselman of Oskaloosa; a sister, Ruby Klyn of Pella; two nieces, Ilda Lou Van Zee and Shirley Cogley both of Pella; and a nephew, Keith Klyn of Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
