Funeral services for Triny Van Wyk, 94 of Sully were held Tuesday, December 2, at the Sully Christian Reformed Church in Sully.. The Rev. Jack Gray, officiated, with Mr. Darwin Van Wyk, organist and Paul Van Beek was the soloist.
Interment were held at the Sully Cemetery. Casket bearers were Virgil Jansen, Jerry Lanser, Milton Lanser, Brent Lanser, Keith Jansen, Paul Van Beek, Tim Kramer, Kevin Van Maanen. Honorary bearers were Kimberly Zantinga, Kurt Jansen, Gail Van Beek, Pamela Kramer .
Triny Van Wyk was born on September 14, 1909 in Jasper County north of Sully, Iowa to Dick and Anna Hoksbergen Van Wyk. Triny was baptized at the Sully Christian Reformed Church as an infant and made profession of her faith at a young age. She attended the Dairy Grove Country Grade School in Jasper County until the sixth grade, when she attended the Sully Christian Grade School finishing the eighth grade.
On January 28, 1931, Triny was united in marriage with Cornelius E. Jansen at Sully and to this union four children were born: Earl Laverne, Lilburn Lloyd, Charlene Faye and Ila Marcille. Cornie and Triny continued to farm his parent's farmstead following their marriage until 1970 when they retired and moved to Sully. Cornie passed away on November 16, 1983.
Triny is survived by her three children and their spouses; Lois and John Lanser of Pella; Lilburn and Geneva Jansen of New Sharon; Charlene and Kenneth Van Maanen of Sully; her daughter-in-law and family; 13 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Of her original family Triny leaves her two brothers: Louis Van Wyk and Elmer and his wife Hattie Van Wyk both of Pella; two sisters: Henrietta Beyer of Pella and Anna Van Weelden of Sully; sister in laws: Anna Pauline Van Wyk of Sully and Reva Van Wyk of Grinnell, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; her oldest son, Earl Laverne Jansen; a son-in-law, Carroll Dwain Van Wyk; one grandson, Craig Laverne Van Wyk; two step -great grandchildren, Amy Lanser and Daniel Lanser; her parents; four brothers, William D. Van Wyk, Raymond Van Wyk, Lester Van Wyk and Clarence Van Wyk; two sisters, Emma Jochems and an infant sister, Emma Van Wyk.
For those desiring, memorials may be designated for the Bible League or "Back To God Hour".
Funeral arrangements were handled by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
