Funeral services for Ardella Gosselink, 85, of Pella were held Aug. 6 at Trinity Reformed Church in Pella. The Rev. Andy Kamphuis officiated and the Rev. Norman Kolenbrander assisted. Emily and Sarah Gosselink were the eulogists. Ilda Lou Van Zee was the organist and Ivan Mulder was the soloist.

Interment was held at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were her grandchildren. Honorary casket bearers were her grandchildren.

Ardella Freda Grandia was the oldest of four children that were born to William F. and Dena Eva (Vander Linden) Grandia. She was born on February 3, 1918 on a farm six miles southeast of Pella. She attended Pleasant View country grade school in Mahaska County. She graduated from the Pella Community High School in 1935.

After attending Central College for one year she then taught in the rural schools east of Pella.

On September 14, 1939 she was united in marriage with William George Gosselink at the country home of her parents. To this union four children were born: Jerry Dean, Gloria Ruth, Gregory William and Mark Wayne. At this time Bill and Ardella moved to Pella and lived there the remainder of their married life. After Bill's retirement in 1982 they continued to live in their home in Pella until 1991 when they moved to the Pella Manor.

In September of 1972, Ardella lost most of her vision due to an unusual attack of acute glaucoma. Since that time she was only able to do a limited amount of cooking and household duties. She also love to knit and during her last years she has completed dozens of afghans which she has shared with her family and friends.

Ardella passed away on, August 3. Ardella made profession of her faith at the First Reformed Church in Pella and at the time of her marriage transferred to the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

She is survived by her husband, three sons and daughter and their spouses; Gloria and K.C. Valster of Pella; Greg and Dena Gosselink of Urbandale; and Mark Gosselink of Pella; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Of her original family Ardella leaves: a sister, Beulah Roorda of Pella and a brother and his wife, Ronald and Dorothy Grandia of Newton; two sisters-in-law, Jennie De Bruin and Jeanette Elsloo both of Pella, along with many nieces and nephews.

Ardella was preceded in death by her father; and her mother; and a brother Donald.

For those desiring, memorials may be designated for the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella or Hospice of Pella.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
