Funeral services for Tena De Haan, 92, of Pella, who died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 at Pella Regional Health Center, were held Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Graveside services were held at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Tena was born on August 9, 1910, in Byron Center, Mich. She was the daughter of John and Anna (Louwsma) Slagter. On May 24, 1934 she married Ted De Haan in Mahaska County.
Tena was a homemaker. She lived many years on farms in the Pella, Oskaloosa and Eddyville areas. She lived in Pella for 39 years. She enjoyed music, reading, needlework, spending time with people, and tea time. She was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church and Christian Opportunity Center Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted; three brothers, Jacob, Wilford, and John; and a sister, Tressa Van Dusseldorp.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen De Haan and Sandra De Cook and her husband, Robert, all of Pella; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five brothers, George and Henry Slagter both of Oskaloosa, Melvin Slagter of Zellwood, Fla., and Marion and Don Slagter both of Pella; and three sisters, Nellie Meinders, Effie Sopher, and Margaret Street all of Oskaloosa.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella or The Bible League.
Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
