Obituary- From Knoxville Journel-Express

Funeral services for Burt Karr who died at Collins Memorial Hospital, Tuesday, January 16, 1962, were held from the First Christian Church, Thursday, January 18, with Rev. Alva T. Browning and Rev. Max Thames officiating. Burial was in the Ruckman Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Walter Pearson, Amos Jones Jr., Forrest Brown, George Brown, Earl Hodgson and Donald Alley. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Westberg were accompanied by Mrs. Pearl Jeffers, organist. Mrs. Cliff Ruckman and Mrs. Earl Hodgson were in charge of the flowers.

Thomas Burton Karr, son of Matthew and Mary Wilbur Karr, was born Nov. 26, 1882 in Marion County and spent most of his life in the Red Rock and Fifield communities. In March, 1910 he was united in marriage to Cora Teter and to this union five children were born. One son Norman, preceded him in death.

Since the age of 12, he had as a hobby, raising bees and selling honey. He attended church regularly until his health began to fail.

Surviving are his children; Cecil (Mr. Merl Price), Red Rock; Harold and Lloyd, rural Knoxville; Roberta (Mrs. Charles Hodgson) also of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Corda, Fred and Loren all of Knoxville.
