Funeral services for Orville Lee Rudd, 77, of Pella, who died on Sunday, December 10, 2000, at his home in Pella, were held on Thursday, December 14, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Pastor Mark Pries officiated at the services. Cremation followed the funeral.

Orville was born on December 19, 1922, in Morganfield, Ky., the son of Orville Lee and Louie (Collins) Rudd. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He married Margaret Kopsky on April 23, 1944. After Margaret passed away in 1990, he married Shirley (Kaufmann) Ginster on July 27, 1992 in Quincy, Ill.

Orville had previously lived in Ankeny, and also in Georgia and Kentucky. He had currently lived in Pella for the past 19 years. He was owner of Rudd Financial Services in Pella; and Orville and his wife, Shirley, were Curators of the Scholte House Museum in Pella.

Orville enjoyed boating. He was a charter member of St. Anne's By The Fields Episcopal Church in Ankeny, a life member of United States Power Squadron, Kiwanis Club of Pella, and Van Veen-Van Hemert American Legion Post #89 of Pella.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Elsie (Riddle) Rudd; and his first wife, Margaret.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Rudd of Pella; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Denny Davis of Burnsville, Minn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Vicki Rudd of Appleton, Wis.; a step-daughter, Jerre Lynn Meyer of Austin, Texas; four step-sons, Craig Ginster and his fiancé, Mary, of Muscatine, Michael Ginster and his wife, Connie, of Texarkana, Texas, Christopher Ginster and his wife, Kathy, of Quincy, Ill., and Mark Ginster and his wife, Julie, of Springfield, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Meg Rudd of Franklin, Tenn. and Jim and Dondra Rudd of Bristol, Tenn.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
