Funeral services for Johanna Hoagland, 92, of Monroe, who died on Thursday, October 5, 2000, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held on Saturday, October 7, at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Rev. Ed Aubuchon officiated at the services. Interment was at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Johanna was born on July 18, 1908 in Marion County to Cornelius and Angeline (Visser) VanDerVeer. She was married to Ralph Hoagland on March 22, 1927 in Des Moines.

Johanna was a seamstress. She was a longtime resident of the Monroe area.

Johanna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother; six sisters; a daughter, a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.

She is survived by a son, Ralph LaVern Hoagland of Monroe; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Richard Rankin of Reasnor and Marilyn and Mike Farrell of Davenport; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Neal Weldon of Lebanon, Mo. and Jean Riggons of Knoxville.

Arrangements were made by Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.
