Funeral services for Lecia A. Gurnsey, 43, of New Prague Minn., formerly of Melcher, who died on Friday, September 15, 2000 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn., were held on Tuesday, September 19, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, Minn. Father George Freeman officiated at the services.

Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Melcher.

Lecia was born on March 29, 1957 in Croatia. She came to the United States at age four. She was raised in Melcher and became a U.S. citizen at age ten. She attended Melcher public schools and attended the American School of Business in Des Moines.

Lecia married Jon J. Gurnsey on May 7, 1983 in Juniper, Colorado. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Scott Equipment in New Prague until 1999.

She was a charter member of New Prague Toastmasters Club.

Lecia is survived by her husband, Jon J. Gurnsey of New Prague; two daughters, V. Nicole Gurnsey and Kelsi A. Gurnsey, both of New Prague; her mother, Anne Kuchan of Melcher; and two sisters and one brother, all of Croatia.
