Funeral services for Donald Dean De Moss, 76, of Knoxville, who died on Saturday, October 14, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held on Wednesday, October 18, at Williams Funeral Home. Rev. Craig Bex officiated at the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry, organist and Janet Westberg, soloist.

Interment was at Graceland Cemetery. Casket bearers were Don Witzenburg, Jason Johnston, Chad Johnston, Nathan White, Brian De Moss and Tate Roland. Honorary casket bearers were Keith Covey, Wayne Langstraat, Melvin Flanders, Orville Hall, Bob Nichols and Dalton Roland.

Don was born on August 23, 1924, in Fifield to Marion and Mable (Faidley) De Moss. He grew up and attended school in the Marion County area. He worked for Bill May Produce and Dale McGraw Farms after serving in World War II.

Don married Norma Cowman on August 6, 1944, in Knoxville. He farmed his entire married life, retiring in April 2000.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife Norma; and a grandson, Doyle Witzenburg.

He is survived by his daughter, Rosemary Witzenburg of Knoxville; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Janet De Moss of Knoxville; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Moe of Pella, Pete of Pleasantville, Bob, Doc and Jerry, all of Knoxville; and a sister, Sis James of Knoxville.

Memorials may be made to the Columbia Fire and Rescue Unit.

Arrangements were made by Williams Funeral Home.
