Funeral services for Zelphia "Toots" Clark, 82, of Knoxville, who died Sunday, June 25, 2000 at the Knoxville Community Hospital, were held Wednesday, June 28 at the Methodist Church in Bussey. Rev. Samuel Subramanian officiated at the services.

Interment was at the Macendonia City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim, John, Jeff, Kevin and Greg Clark, and Kellen and Justin Kraber.

Zelphia was born September 2, 1917 in Pottawattamie County, the daughter of William and Maude Weaver Haines.

She married George Clark on April 1, 1937.

Zelphia had been a cook for the Twin Cedars School, a telephone operator in Bussey, and the Bussey librarian. She was a member of the Bussey Methodist Church and Bussey Library board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maude Weaver Haines; husband, George; a grandson, Richard Clark, Jr.; a sister Helen Wilber; six brothers, Denver, Donald, Floyd, Vernon, Merwyn and Hubert.

She is survived by four sons, Richard of Benton, La., Lonnie and Steven of Bussey and Lyle of Ottumwa; a daughter, Karen Kraber of Knoxville; ten grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Delbert Haines of Council Bluffs and a sister, Ilya Malcom of Council Bluffs.

Memorials are open to donors choice.

Arrangements were made by the Gilbert-Nordstrom Funeral Home.
