Funeral services for Gertrude Van de Voort, 84, of Pella, who died on Sunday, April 22, 2001, at her home, were held on Thursday, April 26, at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Pastors Tom Dykstra and Sheldon Starkenburg officiated at the services.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Gertrude was born on February 15, 1917 in Peoria. She was the daughter of Marinus and Elizabeth (Oliver) Eeling.

She married Arie Van de Voort, Sr. on August 27, 1936. She lived for 62 years in the Pella area. She had also lived in Galesburg. She was a homemaker.

She enjoyed needlepoint and her church. She was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arie; a son, Marvin Van de Voort; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Van de Voort; her parents; a brother, Frank Eeling; and two step-fathers, Bart Van de Voort and G. P. "Shorty" Zylstra.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Arie Van de Voort, Jr. of Pella and Lew and Caryl Van de Voort of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Johanna Vander Hart.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella or the Calvary Christian Benevolent Fund.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
