Lloyd E. Van Zante, 90, of Pella, passed away July 24, 2015, in Pella. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at First Reformed Church, Pella. Visitation begins at 1 p.m., Monday, July 27, at at Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Pella, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella. Lloyd Eugene Van Zante was born at his family’s farm in Pella, on Sept. 21, 1924, to William T. and Angelina (Grandia) Van Zante. Lloyd graduated from Pella High School. He joined the Army on March 1945, proudly served our country for eighteen months, and was a member of the American Legion. Lloyd met Nettie at a skating party at Central College and they married on March 29, 1946, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. To this union they welcomed two sons: Bill and Rick. Lloyd was a member of First Reformed Church in Pella, his entire life and served on the consistory as a deacon and an elder. Lloyd and Nettie raised their family in a Christian home, and leave a legacy of being a good husband and father. He was a great mentor for both farming and life. Lloyd farmed his entire life in the Pella area, and would tell you that farmers don’t retire. Lloyd was survived by his wife of 69 years, his two sons, seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Joey (Dale) Van Ommen, and his brother-in-law, Paul Jr. (Kathryn) Simons.
