HENRY AALBERS

Henry Aalbers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marinus Aalbers (Hattie Hols) was born at Eddyville, Ia, on August 24, 1610 [sic, 1910], and passed away at the Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, on Sunday, Dec. 9, 1956, at 11:45 p.m. at the age of 46 years, 3 months, and 15 days. He was married to Elizabeth Hoksbergen on Nov. 24, 1934.

To this union were born three daughters, namely, Shirley Ann (Mrs. Marvin De Haai), Beverly June, and Marilyn Ruth at home and also two grandchildren, Muriel Ann and Marvin, Jr., all of Monroe.

He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Dow Poortinga, Mrs. Grace Cade of Pella, and five brothers, Jake and Marinus of Pella, William of Runnells, Dan of Montezuma, and Tone of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Gerrit and Gysbert, and one sister Cornelia (Mrs. Albert De Joode).

He made confession of his faith at an early age at the Otley Reformed Church of which he had been a faithful member until the time of his illness. He will be greatly missed in the home as he was a 1oving and faithful husband and father.

The body was taken from the Garden Chapel Funeral Home to the Aalbers residence where prayer services were held prior to services at 1:30 p.m. in the Otley Reformed Church, Wednesday, Dec. 12, 1950, the Rev. Dick W. Vriesman of Prairie City officiating. Interment was made in the Oakwood Cemetery, Pella, Iowa.

Acting as casket bearers were: Donald Aalbers, Robert Aalbers, Marion Aalbers, Edward Aalbers, Francis Poortinga, and Harold Poortinga. A male quartet composed of Francis Van Dusseldorp, Norman Verros, Myron Van Wyk, and Loren Vanden Oever accompanied by Mrs. Ruth Vanden Oever rendered "Going Down the Valley" and "Does Jesus Care?"
