DEATH: occurred at home, on his farm, near Pella, Marion, Iowa

OBITUARY:
Sam "Sipp" Dop was born on April 1, 1903 at Beacon, Iowa in Mahaska County, a son of Hiddie and Gretchen Zylstra Dop. The family moved near Otley, Iowa where he attended grade school and lived his younger years of life. On January 26, 1939 he was united in marriage with Minnie Van Vark at Pella, Iowa and to this union two sons were born: Melvin D. and Donald L. Sam and Minnie moved near Prairie City, Iowa where they lived for six years and then near Monroe, Iowa for three years. Most of their married lifetime was spent on the farm southeast of Pella where they lived for 25 years. During this time, Sam farmed and then did carpenter work for about nine years. In later years he returned to farming which he did until his death. His death came on Monday evening, March 14, 1983 at his rural farm home. His death came on Monday evening, March 14, 1983 at his rural farm home just 17 days prior to his 80th birthday. Surviving are his wife, Minnie; his two sons and wives; Melvin & Mary; Donald & Twilla all of Pella, Iowa and four grandchildren: Michael, Mindy, Susan & Amy. Sam was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers and 3 Sisters. Sam worshipped at the First Reformed Church in Pella, Iowa.
