Mrs. J.J. Dunbar

Mrs. Nancy O.Dunbar, wife of John J. Dunbar, a resident of Marion county for the past 70 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B.H. Shinn, in Knoxville, on March 22, 1919. She was the last member of the family of Elijah and Orpha Henry, pioneers of this county.

Nancy O. Henry was born in Pendleton county, Ky,. on January 6, 1833 and at the time of her death was aged 86 years, 2 months, and 16 days. At the age of 3 years she moved with her parents to Decatur county, Ind., from which place the family moved to Liberty township, in this county, in the year 1849.

Here, on August 18, 1850, she was united in marriage to John James Dunbar, with whom she has continuously resided in this county. To this union were born eight children, two of whom died in infancy, and two of whom-Matilda, wife of V.A. Stevens, and Ann Eliza, wife of J.W. Davis, are also deceased. She is survived by her husband, who is 96 years of age, and four children-James T. of Herschel, Sask., Can.; Orpha, wife of B.H. Shinn; Sarah Ellen, wife of T.J. Glenn, of Hamilton, and Josie, wife of J.F. Chambers of Tracy, and a step-son, C. Dunbar, Berthod, Colo. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

She was converted to the Christian life at the age of twenty and has always remained a true and devoted follower of the Savior.

Short funeral services were held at the late home in Knoxville, Monday afternoon, March 24, at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J.F. Robertson, after which the body was taken to Attica where further services were held at the M.P. Church at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. R.S. Tague. Interment was made in the family lot at Liberty cemetery.
