Mrs. N.D. Shinn is Dead

Passed Away At Home of Parents in Durham, North Carolina, Wednesday

Trouble, the worst that ever befalls human beings, has finally come to the N.D. Shinn family, in the death of Mrs. Shinn who passed away at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Ivey, in Durham, North Carolina, on Tuesday morning of this week at 5 o'clock. Death resulted from measles complicated with pneumonia.

In The Journal of November 30, we made mention that Mrs. Shinn and their little daughter, Bonnie, had gone to North Carolina for an extended visit with Mrs. Shinn's parents. It was a prospective happy reunion with parents and other relatives after a separation of several years. A week or two later it was casually mentioned on the streets that Mr. Shinn had received word that little Bonnie was suffering from an attack of measles. Later it was announced that Mrs. Shinn had been stricken with the disease and was critically ill.

Mr. Shinn left immediately on the receipt of the telegram and the next news that came was the announcement of the woman's death. The telegram giving the sad details was one addressed to Mr. Shinn's sister, Mrs. Earl Bailey, who resides with her family near Bussey. The funeral services and burial took place at Durham, N.C. yesterday.
