Angeline Damhof Hardin age 90 of Knoxville, Iowa passed away Sunday morning July 1, 2012 at the West Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Knoxville.

She was born October 18, 1921 in McGrath, Minnesota the daughter of John and Johanna (DeVries) Damhof. Angeline was a graduate of Willmar, Minnesota High School, Class of 1939. After high school she attended Central College in Pella, Iowa and received her Teaching Degree. She also attended Drake College.

On July 21, 1943 at Marfa Army Air Base in Texas, Angeline and William Wesley Hardin Sr. were united in marriage. They shared 68 years of marriage and were blessed with four children: Bill Jr., Dave, Mary, and Kathy.

Angeline worked for one year as an English and P.E. Teacher in Spirit Lake. The remainder of her education career was at Knoxville High School, where she taught English for many years. She was also the Librarian at Knoxville High School. After her retirement she remained busy with her antique business.

Angie was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was active with the Presbyterian Women and sang in the choir. She was also a former Elder and Deacon. She was a member of Original Chapter M of PEO and active in the Marion County Historical Society, Mentor Club, Befrienders, I.S.E.A. and Friends of the Library. Angeline was also a former Den Leader with the Boy Scouts. She especially loved her family and enjoyed antiquing, garage sales, being a very active Democrat and service to others.

Angeline is survived by her husband Bill Hardin Sr. of Knoxville; their children Bill Hardin and wife Jan of Clive, Dave Hardin and wife Deborah of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Mary Hardin Young of Sacramento, California; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Wilma Hoekstra and husband Tony of Pella and brother-in-law Rex Shoop of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Kathy Jo Hardin; two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday July 6, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville with Rev. Josyph Andrews officiating. Burial will follow services at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville.
