Ron Koons, 59, passed away peacefully Friday, November 29, 2013 at Unity Point Health Des Moines Methodist. He was born on May 14, 1954 in Knoxville to Marion Koons and Emma Chapman.

Ron was a mechanic who enjoyed helping others and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, who he loved very much.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Debbie; sons, John (Beth) and Matthew (TaLia); grandsons, Gavin and Daxton; mother, Emma Chapman; siblings, Shirley, Pam, Barb, Lois and Marty; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marion; brother, Russ and sisters, Sandy and Cindy.

Celebration of life services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
