Marie Blom

Services for Marie Blom, 85, of Pella, who died April 16, 1995 at Pella Community Nursing Home, were held April 19 at the First Christian Reformed Church. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Interment was in Peoria Cemetery, Peoria.

Robert De Jager officiated at the services. Music was provided by Betty Huyser, organist, and Ivan Mulder, soloist.

Pallbearers were Leonard Simons, Arnold and Leroy Ryken, John and Norman De Jong, and Howard Pothoven.

Mrs. Blom was born Nov. 6, 1909 in Mahaska County near Peoria, the daughter of Gerrit J. and Nellie De Jong Ryken. She attended Peoria Christian Grade School.

On Nov. 24, 1936, she married Teunis J. Blom at Oskaloosa. They farmed southwest of Peoria until retiring in 1981 and moving into Pella.

She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and was a member of the Sr. Helping Hand Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; her parents; five sisters, Nellie and Jennie Ryken, Mrs. Simons (Johanna) Brummel, Bertha Stouwie, and Mrs. Gerrit (Emma) Nieuwsma; and five brothers, George, Gysbert, Martin, Dick and Frank.

A memorial has been established to The Back to God Hour radio broadcast ministry.
