Kenneth W. Cowman

Services for Kenneth W. Cowman, 56, of Des Moines, who died April 9, 1995 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, were held April 13 at the United Methodist Church in Prairie City with the Rev. Reg Merrill officiating. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Prairie City.

Mr. Cowman was born March 28, 1939 in Des Moines, the son of Warren and Bethine Wilson Cowman. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1957 and attended Iowa State University for two years.

A longtime resident of the Prairie City area, he later moved to De Soto and then to Des Moines seven years ago.

He had been a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Prairie City, the Iowa Motor Truck Association, and had served in the Iowa Army National Guard.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Kaylene) De Vries of Prairie City; two sons and their wives, Michael and Vicki of Pella and Myron and Becky of Lincoln, Neb.; seven grandchildren; his parents of Prairie City; one brother, Jim of Ankeny; and a special friend and companion, Barbara Cooper of Des Moines.

Memorials have been established to Camp Sunnyside and the American Heart Association.
