Funeral services for Richard Lee Anderson, 55, who died on Sunday, April 28, 2001, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held Wednesday, May 2, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Pastor A. Bandstra officiated at the services. Music was provided by organist Carolyn Veenstra and vocalist Carrie Veenstra. Interment was at Bellefountaine Cemetery in Tracy. Casket bearers were Mark Smith, Kenneth Sneller, Bruce Anderson, Dan Beaver, John Schippers and Larry Rozenboom. Honorary casket bearers were grandchildren Nicole, Dustin, Megan, Collin, Ashley and Logan Anderson/

Richard was born on November 21, 1945 in Knoxville. He was the son of Ivan and Fairy Glee (Bishop) Anderson. He attended Attica and Knoxville schools. On May 25, 1963, he married Lavonna Jean Jones. To this union three sons were born. Through the rears Rich had worked for Cathcart Locker, Hines-Westberg Implement, O.K. Tire, Pella Implement and the Tracy Elevator. In 1974 he purchased the service station in Tracy, serving the community as a mechanic until his death. Rich enjoyed being outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Clay Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and the Tracy Water Board. He had also previously served on the Store Board in Tracy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, William Beal and mother-in-law, Hazel Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Lavonna; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Denise, Raymond and Nancy and Michael and Stacy, all of Tracy; six grandchildren; a brother, Larry Anderson of Tracy; three half-sisters, Jean Beal of Tracy, Connie Beebe of Harvey and Florence McDaniel of Yorba Linda, Calif.; father –in-law, Levi Jones of Bussey and many other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Clay Township Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department. Arrangements were made by Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
