Alberta Aleen McVay was born March 6, 1937 in Marysville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Alberta Marie McCombs and Harold “Doc” Burk. Alberta attended school and grew up in the local area; graduating from Lovilia High School.

On September 9, 1955 Alberta was united in marriage to Richard Dale McVay in Laurel, Iowa. To this union four children were born.

Alberta was employed by Pella Corporation for over 20 years. She also worked at the Attica Store; enjoying the opportunity to visit with all the customers. Alberta enjoyed bird watching and crocheting in her spare time.

Alberta McVay passed away on February 19, 2009 at her home in Attica at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 13 days.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents and husband in 1991.

Those left to mourn her passing are two daughters, Debora Corwin and her husband, Chester of Boone, Tammy McVay of Cheyenne, WY; two sons and their wives, Richard and Donieta McVay of Topeka, KS and Randall and Yong McVay of Bellevue, NE; one adopted son and his wife, Tom and Terri Parker of New Bloomfield, MO; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Williams Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Lane officiating. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Musical selections were “Candles In The Wind”, a CD by Elton John; “In the Garden” and “One Day At A Time” with Jim Kidder as the vocalist and Janet Westberg as the organist. In lieu of flowers the family requested that memorials be given to the Attica United Methodist Church.
