Glen L. Visser, age 74, passed away February 10, 2009 in Harvey, IA. The body has been cremated and burial of the cremains will be at a later date. Memorial contributions are to be directed to the family of Mr. Visser.

Glen was born January 15, 1935 in Harvey, IA to Engle H. and Ruth Hegwood Visser. He resided his entire life in Harvey, and on Feb. 3, 1956 was united in marriage to Jeannine McKowen.

Glen was a passionate person about many things. He enjoyed antiquing and was an accomplished artist in both water colors and oil painting mediums. He was known as a person who enjoyed practical jokes, and loved just talking to older people and children he met on his travels through life. He and his wife Jeannine participated in 17 annual RAGBRAI bike rides, and once biked across Australia from Melbourne to Sidney. He was a member of the Monroe Saddle Club, Iowa Donkey and Mule Association,

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine of Harvey, IA; son, Mike (Deanie) Visser of Pella, IA; son, Kirk (Holly) Visser of Knoxville, IA; daughter, Carrie (Crayola) England of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Cathy Visser of Olympia, WA; mother, Betty Visser of Harvey, IA; and sister, Linda Visser of Hot Springs, AR. His grandchildren are Mia (Joe), Micole (Jason), Skyler, Sundance, Jorgen, Gretta, Ashlee, Lacey, Mike, and Kelly. Great grand-children are Sylvia and Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Hegwood Visser, his father Engle “Babe” Visser, and brother Dwight Visser.

A Memorial Service was held Friday, February 13, 2009 at Williams Funeral Home with Rev. Darrel Eickhhorn officiating. Luncheon followed at the Harvey Community Center.
