Carol Ann Breuklander was born on May 20, 1942, at Knoxville, Iowa. Carol, the fifth child, grew up in a family with six siblings. Her parents, John Edward and Roena Margaret Elwood Breuklander, raised their family on limited resources.

Family outings were so very precious. A childhood memory of Carol's was their Sunday walks with all seven of the children to the cemetery, which was close to their home in Pella, Iowa. Carol graduated from the Lincoln Grade School and Pella Junior High and then attended Pella High School for one year.

Carol met Henry Laverne Visser, the youngest of thirteen children born to Henry and Maggie Vander Veer Visser, on the square in downtown Pella. They were united in marriage on October 31, 1959, in Unionville, Missouri and were blessed with three beautiful children: Sherry Ann, Daniel Laverne and Bonnie Sue. They started their married life together on the farm south of Pella, and later moved to the old West Silver Grove Country School onto the same farm which they later bought and continued to live the remainder of their married life together.

Laverne started working at the Rolscreen Company in 1959 and remained a faithful employee of the Pella Corporation for 39 years. Carol was a devoted homemaker and mother and in later years worked at Central College for five years and for five years at the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella.

Carol retired in 1998 and in October of that year Laverne was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Laverne and Carol displayed a steadfast faith in the Lord and courage to all who knew them. On Saturday, April 28, 2001, Laverne passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 65 years. The following year, Carol was diagnosed with kidney cancer and survived.

A group of friends invited Carol for coffee time at Mc Donald's in Pella and she met Cornie Bambrook, Jr. They were united in marriage on April 16, 2005, and spent their married life on his farm near Eddyville, Iowa. In June of 2005, the cancer reoccurred in her liver. But the loving, happy woman of faith Carol was, this did not, however, alter her personality nor did she lose her faith. She remained happy, pleasant and positive until the time of her death, which came on Sunday morning, June 10, 2007, while being cared for at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House. She is now a child in Heaven, having just celebrated her 65th birthday.

Those who will cherish her memory are her husband of just 2 years, Cornie Bambrook, Jr.; her three children and their mates, Sherry and Lowell Sneller of Pella, Daniel Visser and friend, Karla Weinstock of Pella and Bonnie and Mark Crady of Norwalk; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Carol leaves three step-children: Sharon (Bambrook) and Robert Preston of Independence, Missouri; Diane (Bambrook) and Ronald Dobson of Eddyville, Iowa; Brian and Charly Bambrook of Eddyville; 8 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Of her original family she leaves three brothers and her two sisters and their spouses: James A. and Anna Breuklander of Oskaloosa, Iowa; William F. and Stella Breuklander of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Mary H. and Jack Battistello; Lawrence A. and Becky Breuklander; Linda J. and Willis Vander Horst all of Pella; along with three sisters-in-law: Karen (Robert) Breuklander of Knoxville, Iowa; Johanna (Visser) and her husband, Bud Manges of Pella and Betty (Thomas) Visser of Harvey, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, H. Laverne Visser; her father, John R. Breuklander, who passed away April 10, 1979; her mother, Roena M. Breuklander, who passed away November 27, 2005; her infant brother, Thomas C., in 1935 and her infant sister, Mary Ellen, in 1936; and her brother, John Robert Breuklander, who passed away on July 27, 1985.

Carol was baptized in the summer of 1971 and made profession of her faith at the Assembly of God Church in Harvey, Iowa. She became a member of the Open Bible Church at Pella in 1976 and at the time of her death was a member of the Evangelical Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Carol learned to quilt at the age of 56 years and to play rook at the age of 58 years. Sewing, reading and coffee times were a favorite pastime of hers, but being a loving, happy woman of the faith, a faithful wife, mother and grandmother and good friend to all was most important to her.

For those desiring, memorials may be given for the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella.
