Jesse was born on April 6, 1943, in Bennett, the son of Ernest K. and Mina Erma Shore Wagner. He attended Glenwood State School in Glenwood, before returning home to Knoxville. He lived with his mother, brothers David and Melvin, and sister Esther. Upon the death of his mother in 1971, Jesse and David went to live with their sister, Anna and brother in law, Harold. Jesse moved to an assisted living apartment in 1995. He returned to Knoxville this year.

While growing up, Jesse had a love of animals and enjoyed taking care of his rabbits, pigeons and family dogs, Bootsie and Foxy. He enjoyed people and conversation and could start a conversation with anyone. No one was a stranger to Jesse very long. He had a loving heart and infectious laugh.

He was a hard worker and enjoyed helping people. He worked several years at the Deep Rock Gas Station and Village Theater. He also enjoyed mowing lawns and had many regular customers.

Jesse was active in his church choir and faithfully attended Sunday School until recent ill health would not permit him to.

Jesse passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Griffin Nursing Home in Knoxville, at the age of 64.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother Joseph, brother Mack, and sister Lettie Snow.

Jessie is survived by brothers, Ernest (Anna) of Rochelle, Ill., James (Anita) of Stayton, Ore., Melvin (Thelma) of Parker, Ariz., and David of Knoxville; sisters, Ramona Barnard (Eugene) of Melcher, Ellen Schroeder (Leonard) of Crescent, Marjorie Hester (Howard) of Torrington, Conn., Anna Simmons (Harold) of Knoxville, and Esther Clarke (Irl) of Knoxville; and many other relatives and friends.
