Jimmy Dale Raney, 73, of Pleasantville, passed away on Friday, Dec. 7, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Jimmy joined the Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. Following the Marine Corps, he returned home and learned the welding trade at Raney Motor Machine Shop in Pleasantville. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 38. He welded up until the time he opened Sandyville Tap, and later bought the Fireside Lounge. During this time, he was a volunteer EMT I for Pleasantville and he worked for Capital City Ambulance in Des Moines.

He was a commander of the American Legion in Pleasantville and he operated North End Service up until the time he retired. After he retired, he spent his time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and many family and friends who he loved very much.

He is survived by his wife Janette, his children, Jeannie Raney-Ferrell, Cindy Mull and her husband Jeff, and JP McCann and his wife Marcia. He had 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He had one sister, Martie Teeman, 3 brothers, Ronnie Raney, David Comstock and Lloyd Comstock, one stepsister Marla Cockrell, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in law and their families. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Cathy Raney, his son-in-law Bobby Ferrell, his brother Chris Comstock, his parents and grandparents.

Burial services with military honors will be announced at a later date.
