Harrison, Charlene (Claypool) 1926-2007

Charlene Harrison was born July 16, 1926, in Jefferson, the daughter of George and Sophia (Seifkas) Claypool.

She attended Creston High School and after graduation was united in marriage to Kenneth Charles Harrison in Creston on June 17, 1945.

Charlene had worked for Montgomery Ward as an invoice records clerk. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting, making many projects for her family. Charlene also enjoyed offering her time to teach Sunday School, do volunteer work at the church and also her and Ken were leaders of the church youth group. Gardening and canning were also a favorite.

Ken and Charlene always enjoyed square dancing together. Being an advocate for cancer research was one of the things she felt very strongly about. Charlene enjoyed her time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charlene passed away on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 81.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Ernest Rogers.

Charlene is survived by her husband, Kenneth, children; Jeffrey Allen (Geneva) Harrison, Dennis Craig (Jackie) Harrison, Melody Lynne (Jeffery) Abell all of Knoxville, 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother, William Claypool of Cedar Rapids, along with other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services were held at New Covenant Church in Knoxville on Nov. 20, 2007, with Rev. Jim Mead officiating. Internment was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville.
