Wilene Gilman, 86, of Melcher-Dallas passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at the Griffin Nursing and Rehab Center in Knoxville. Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 22 at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Melcher. Memorials may be made to her church.

Wilene was born Dec. 1, 1920, in Knoxville, to William and Mabel Wilson. She was married to Richard Gillman in 1940.

Together they ran several restaurants including Dick's Lounge, the Dairy Sweet, and a food stand at the State Fair.

She enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening and picking walnuts. Wilene loved sports and played on eight softball teams at one time.

She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, the UMW, and the Pocahontas Lodge.

Preceding her in death are an infant sister Wilma, her husband Richard, and son-in-law Johnnie Dhabalt.

She is survived by her daughters: Marsha Dhabalt of Iowa Falls, and Debbie Williams of Melcher-Dallas; grandchildren: Janelle, Sean, Cherise, Whitney, Dylan, and Lacey Williams; and 9 great grandchildren.
