Bailey, Phillip Short 1931-2007

Phillip Short Bailey was born on Oct. 12, 1931, in Independence, Mo. He was one of four children born to Pauline Short and William Wallace Bailey. Phil grew-up in Pleasant Hill, Mo. He graduated from Pleasant Hill, Mo., High School in 1949.

On April 17, 1954, Phillip Short Bailey was united in marriage to Dolores DuBree. To this union one child was born.

Phil was a hard worker his entire life. He never retired but continued to work until the time of his death. Phil worked for 17 years at Vermeer Manufacturing mostly as a foreman. He and Dolores owned and operated Bailey's Donut Shop for 13 years. For many years Phil also sharpened tools and saws. He also operated a stump removal business until his death.

Phillip Short Bailey passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at the Mercy Medical Center at the age of 75.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife of 53 years, Dolores Bailey of Knoxville; one son, Steve Bailey of Knoxville and two brothers and their wives, William and Donna Bailey Jr. of Independence, Mo., and Clarence and Dorothy Bailey of Warrensburg, Mo.

A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Williams Funeral Home with Elder Bill McDonald and Elder Dick Young officiating. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Mr. Bailey may be given to the Knoxville Rescue Unit.
