DeVos, Pauline Marie (Miller) 1930-2007

Pauline Marie DeVos was born on March 2, 1930, in Story County. She was one of 10 children born to Edna Marie Skogeboe and Raymond Miller. Pauline attended school in Story City and Ottumwa. On Aug. 13, 1949, in Knoxville to Pauline Marie Miller married John Wilby DeVos. To this union four children were born.

Pauline and John made their home in Knoxville for most of their married lives. Pauline was employed as a Deputy Clerk of Court in Marion County for 18 years. She retired in 1993.

Pauline made many ceramic pieces over the years. She loved to spend her spare time playing bingo. Pauline and John enjoyed traveling, frequently to California or Oregon to visit Pauline's family. Children and especially grandchildren were the center of Pauline's life. She shared in their activities as well as spending time with them.

Pauline passed away on June 1, 2007, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 77.

Preceding her in death were her parents and five brothers.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, John of Knoxville; four children, John (Kay) DeVos of Springtown, Texas, Diana Darnell of Knoxville; Larry (Stephanie) DeVos of Waukee and Mike (Cindi) DeVos of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Perkins and Connie Graham of California and two brothers, Del Miller of California and Dean Miller of Oregon.
