Robbins, Charles Elmer, Jr. 1921-2007

ROBBINS, WALL, BOATWRIGHT

Charles Elmer "Chod" Robbins, Jr. was born on Aug. 5, 1921 in Des Moines, the son of Charles Elmer Robbins, Sr. and Goldie (Wall) Robbins.

He was raised in Des Moines and attended school there. On April 20, 1940 he was united in marriage to Mary Darlene Boatwright in Unionville, Missouri.

He served in the United States Army, during WWII, from 1944 to 1946. After the war, Charles returned to he and Mary's home in Madison County. The couple also lived in Texas, for a short time, then Warren County and eventually moved to the Pleasantville area.

Charles was a farmer and did custom harvesting, and worked as a carpenter for most of his life. Prior to retirement he worked for Economy Forms and Ringland Johnson Crowley. He was a life member of the Carpenter's Union Local 106. In earlier years, he and Mary were very active in the Eagle's Club. He was a family man and loved the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charles passed away on Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 85.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Carol "Cindy" Haug; three brothers, Fred, Cline and Rollie and his sister, Leona Smith.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Charles (Nancy) Robbins of Knoxville, Mary (John) Rodda of Pleasantville, Tom (Linda) Robbins of Milo, Jeannie (Jesse) Ramirez of Pleasantville, Pat (Richard) Sallman of Indianola and Bob (Karen) Robbins of Indianola; brother, Sherman Robbins of Knoxville; 34 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
