Graves, Rose Maryanne (Olivier) 1915-2007

Rose Maryanne Graves was born on March 9, 1915, in Oskaloosa to Cornelius and Marie (Brandenhorst) Olivier.

She was raised and graduated from high school in Oskaloosa. She moved to Pella and began working for Rolscreen as a secretary. Rose married Dean Graves on April 5, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. The couple moved to Pleasantville shortly after they were married. During World War II, she worked at the ordinance plant in Des Moines. After the war ended, she worked at several different places around Des Moines as a secretary, retiring from Look Magazine in 1985.

Rose was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She taught a Sunday School class and sang in the choir. She also participated in the Beta Gay Club and played in a community bridge club. At one time she was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts.

Rose passed away on March 14, 2007, at the Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald and sister, Lucille Taft.

Survivors include her husband, Dean; son, Richard Graves of De Soto, Texas; four grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Bernstein of New York City and June Silvers of Branson, Mo. and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on March 19 at the Mason Funeral Home with

Pastor John Claussen officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
