Helen Berniel Lyon passed away on March 11, 2007, at the Knoxville Hospital.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1924, to Harrison and Callie Phillips of rural Pleasantville. She graduated from high school in 1943 and then attended Iowa State University for two years. She married Richard Lyon on June 4, 1947.

Her professional life included many years of employment at L.H. Kurtz Plumbing Supply Company and Blue Cross Blue Shield Company. Most enjoyable in her life were the roles of wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, homemaker and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Lyon; children, Craig Lyon and Mark (Julia) Lyon, all of Pleasantville, Linda (Scott) Ivie of Mt. Prospect, Ill. and Larry (Beth) Lyon of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; brother, Carroll (Mavis) Phillips of Pleasantville and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on March 15 at Mason Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Flagg officiating.

Interment was in Wheeling Cemetery in Pleasantville.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or the Pleasantville Fire Department.
