Rosemary Paula (Maas) Johnson, 75, of Lisbon, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, from complications due to cancer. Celebration of Life service was 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel.

Rosemary is survived by her children, Timothy (Cindy) of Lisbon, and Caroline (Jeffrey) Johnson of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Dick (Joanie) Maas, two nieces and three nephews, a brother-in-law, Robert, and sister-in-law, Joey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Marian Krueger Maas, her husband, Herbert, two sisters, Joanne and Kathy, a brother, Jim, a niece Deanne and a sister-in-law, Neva.

Rosemary was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Quincy, Ill. She moved to Mount Vernon in 1952 and married Herbert E. Johnson Dec. 20, 1954. Herbert died in March 1996. Rosemary loved floral design and worked for Bigger's Flower Shop in Mount Vernon and Lisbon, Bezdek's Greenhouse in Marion, Lappe's Florist Shop in downtown Cedar Rapids and Candi's Floral Shop in Knoxville. She was self-taught and often sought for her creativity and skill.

Her favorite hobbies were needle point, quilting, crafts and reading romance novels. Rosemary's greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rosemary's family would like to thank the caring staff of Hospice of Mercy for making the last year of her life possible for her to stay at home. She called them her "angels."
