Katherine Butler-Nalin, formerly from Pella, died unexpectedly following heart surgery on November 13th at her home in Goleta, CA.

Kay was raised in Pella, and graduated from Pella High School in 1967. She graduated from Central College in 1971, and was married to Paul Nalin later that year. She and her husband lived and worked in Princeton NJ, moving to Palo Alto,.CA in 1977. She earned her PhD from Stanford University in 1984. In 1990, her family moved to Cedar Falls, where she taught at UNI for several years. For the past nine years, they have lived in CA.

Kay is survived by her husband Paul, her grown daughters, Alethea and Amelia, her mother Barbara, from Pella, and her brother Charles from Red Wing MN.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Butler.

A memorial service was held November 25th m Goleta CA.
