Jonathan Eugene Miller was born on May 15, 1952, in San Diego County, Calif. He was the son Mary Ann Little and Edgar Eugene Miller.

John graduated from high school in California. Immediately after graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Upon his discharge, John traveled and worked around the United States before settling in Knoxville. John was a diligent volunteer at the Knoxville VA Medical Center for many years. He served as the Assistant Deputy of the local AMVETS Post # 63. John enjoyed the Creative Arts Program at the VA Medical Center, especially the drama and dancing. He also loved the outdoors. Many hours were spent fishing, hiking and bicycling. John was also a sports enthusiast. He watched all types of sports on TV, but football was his favorite. John was a true Hawkeye fan and seldom missed watching a game when it was televised. John was a beloved companion, friend and brother who will be missed by many.

Jonathan Eugene Miller died at the Knoxville Hospital on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at the age of 54.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Those left to mourn his passing are one son, Jonathan "Jonny" Eugene Miller of Knoxville; his fiancé, Rebecca Hoekstra of Knoxville; two sisters and their husbands, Mary and Tracy Sebold of Grand Junction, Colo., and Cindy and Paul Reed of California; three brothers, Robert Robertson, Dale Robertson and Stephen LeGault, all of California, and many nieces and nephews as well as friends.

Graveside services were held on Oct. 5, 2006 at Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Gary Roozeboom officiating. Military honors were provided by John Myers VFW Post # 3519, Baty-Tucker American Legion Post # 168 and AMVETS Post # 63.

Memorials in memory of John may be made to the Creative Arts Program at the VA Medical Center.
