Richard A. Flaskerud was born on June 29, 1937, in Calmar to K. Henry and Kitty (Hjelmeland) Flaskerud.

Richard was a graduate of Calmar High School. In October 1960, he was inducted in the United States Army where he served for three years.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, which he attended regularly.

Richard passed away on Oct. 26, 2006, at the V.A. Medical Center in Knoxville at the age of 69.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to honor his memory include his brother, David H. Flaskerud of Cresco; a sister, Margaret (Ed) Jaster of Rockwall, Texas; nieces, Jacquelyn (Brian) Bangen and Jennifer (Michael) Sanders; and four great-nieces and nephews, Andrew and Abigail Bangen and Madisen and Meghan Sanders.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 31 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor John Chadwick officiating.

Interment was on Nov. 1 in the Calmar Lutheran Cemetery in Calmar with Rev. Dwight Albers officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Services were provided by Bybee and Davis Funeral Home.
