Henry John Langstraat, son of Leendert and Agnes Lucas Langstraat, was born in Mahaska County on February 3, 1899 and passed away at the Mahaska Hospital May 2, 1972 at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 29 days. At the age of 18 he confessed his faith in his Lord and Savior at the New Kirk Reformed Church. At the age of 27 he was united in marriage to Nellie Kelderman who survives along with three daughters: Mrs. Ray (Agnes) Van Weelden of Oskaloosa, Mrs. William (Emily) Dieleman of Pella and Mrs. Harold (Leona) De Vries of Lynnville; two sons: Henry Jr. and wife, Cynthia, of Otley, Terry and wife, Marcella, of Mitchellville, also 18 grandchildren. Also surviving are eight brothers and six sisters: Pete of New Sharon, Herman and Jake of Des Moines, Dick of Oskaloosa, John and Leonard of Knoxville, Cornie of Eddyville, and Paul Langstraat of Pella; Mrs. Annie Nunnikhoven, Mrs. Irene Pol and Mrs. Minnie Van Ham of Pella, Mrs. Sarah Cotton of Santa Monica, California, Mrs. Alice De Jong of Knoxville and Pauline De Jong of South Carolina. His parents, one sister and one grandchild, Valerie Ann Langstraat preceded him in death.
