M. Elizabeth Summey, age 89 of Pella, IA, and formerly of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2006, at the long term care unit of Pella Regional Medical Center.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at the Pleasantville Cemetery, Pleasantville, Iowa. Williams Funeral Home of Knoxville assisted the family.

Mrs. Summey was born on September 30, 1916 in Oakes, South Dakota, the daughter of Craig and Mary "Johnson" Pos. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1933 and attended Iowa State Teachers College in the evening following high school.

She was united in marriage to Hermann Summey on April 14, 1934, in Council Bluffs, IA. Mr. Summey passed away on April 1, 1987.

While living in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area, Elizabeth was a member of B.P.W., the Waterloo Art Association and the Association of Retarded Citizens. She worked as a calligrapher for the Spectrum Publishing and Communications Company.

Mrs. Summey is survived by one daughter, Connie Curtis-Rameyer and her husband Meint of Ackley, IA; one brother, John Pos of Richardson, TX; one sister, Mary Ann Coulfield of San Diego, CA; one granddaughter, Cathy J. Curtis of Wellsley, MA; two grandsons, Christopher Curtis of Alexandria, VA and William L. Curtis and his wife Chang of Warrensburg, MO and two great-grandchildren, James Linden Curtis and Song Elizabeth Curtis.

A memorial fund in Mrs. Summey's name has been established for the River Hills School in Cedar Falls, IA, and can be sent to her daughter in Ackley, IA.
