Plaugher, Cleo Dale, Jr. 1930-2006

Cleo Dale Plaugher, Jr. was born on Jan. 21, 1930, in Sioux Falls, S. D. He was adopted by Cleo Dale Plaugher, Sr. and Minnie (Smithback) Plaugher.

He was raised in Sioux Falls and attended school there. On May 29, 1952 he was inducted into the United States Air Force. He served primarily at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas before he was honorably discharged in September 1954.

He worked for several years in his father's livestock business. He later attended L.P.N. training. He worked as a nurse for the V.A. in Sioux Falls for a few years before transferring to the V.A. Medical Center in Knoxville. He retired from Knoxville with over 20 years of service.

Dale had many interests; he enjoyed flying and had built many radio-controlled aircraft through the years. He was also a very talented musician and enjoyed playing and singing. Dale was a very intelligent person and enjoyed new challenges of any type.

Dale passed away on Aug. 17, 2006, at his home at the age of 76.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Plaugher of Sioux Falls; his cousin, Barb Paa (Dave) of Sioux Falls and many other family members and friends.

A graveside memorial service was held on Aug. 24 at Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Doug Brady officiating. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Baty-Tucker Post No. 168 and V.F.W. John Myers Post No. 3519.

Bybee and Davis Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
