Elizabeth Irene Clark was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Dallas, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah (McGee) Wood.

Betty graduated from Melcher High School in 1933. She married Leland Clark in Pleasantville on Aug. 13, 1933. She and her husband operated Clark's Grocery Store in Pleasantville for many years before retiring in the late 1970s. After retirement, Betty helped out at the Checkerboard and babysat for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at her home in Pleasantville at the age of 91.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leland; brothers, Harry, Arthur and Clarence Wood; sisters, Ethel Rehor, Jessie Dement and Leota Wood and her grandson, Michael Fee.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Karen (Ronald) Fee and Sharon (Dick) Cunningham, all of Pleasantville; grandchildren; Vicki Messerli, Deanna (Paul) Zinter, Gary (Beth) Chiles and Rhonda (Marty) Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Shannon (Brooke) Brown, Skye (Marcy) Messerli, Sheena (Nathan) Lester, Rebekah, Joshua and Caleb Zinter, Lily Chiles and Amanda, Alyssa, Noah and Ethan Zimmerman; and great-great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Brown and Gage Messerli.

Funeral Services were held at Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville on Oct. 1 with Pastor Don Hill officiating. Interment was in Pleasantville Cemetery.
