Brent, Fred Edmund 1916-2006

Fred Edmund Brent was born on June 13, 1916, in Pleasantville to Walter and Pearl (LeMar) Brent.

He graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1933. He spent his early years in the Dallas and Pleasantville areas. On March 27, 1938, he married Nita Maxine Johnson. Fred worked in the coal mine before moving to a farm northwest of Knoxville. He drove a school bus for the Knoxville School District and worked at Sears at Southridge for several years. He also worked for the ASCS measuring land. He and Nita had three children, Lew, Marjo Ann and David. Marjo Ann died when she was two days old.

He was a member of the First Christian Church. After Nita died of cancer in 1976, he married Maxine Robuck on Dec. 9, 1979. They made their home in Pleasantville and later in Knoxville, where he lived at the time of his death.

Fred died July 5, at the Knoxville Hospital at the age of 90.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nita; daughter Marjo Ann; sister, Daisy Harkin and brother, Paul.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine; sons, Lew (Connie) Brent of Knoxville and David (Vicky) Brent of Pleasantville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Hubert Brent and Robert Brent, both of Pleasantville; a step-daughter, Pam Zoutte of Pella; step-sons, Dale Robuck of Golden, Colo. and Charlie (Staci) Robuck of Knoxville; seven step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on July 8 with Pastor Alan Finestead officiating.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
