Valentine H. Van Rheenen, of Pella, passed away March 2, 2006.

Van Rheenen, son of Henry and Maggie Mathes Van Rheenen, was born May 25, 1911, near Galesburg, Iowa. He passed away at the Pella Comfort House on March 2, 2006, at the age of ninety-four years.

On February 17, 1937, Val was united in marriage with Berdena Kolenbrander at the home of her parents near Pella. Val and Berdena lived on the family farm for over sixty years prior to moving to Pella.

Val was a member of the Third Reformed Church in Pella. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and wintering in Florida.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his son and his wife, Verlan and Norma Van Rheenen of Kalamazoo, MI; his daughter and her husband, Sharyl and Marvin Wielard of Sioux Center; four grandchildren: Sara Rapp, Susan Van Rheenen, Marc Wielard, and Paul Wielard; and six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Agnes Witzenburg of Pella, Marguerite Van Zee of Minnesota, and Irene Harder; two brothers: Ralph Van Rheenen of Pella and Clifford Van Rheenen of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Berdena, who passed away June 2, 2003; one sister: Betty Klyn; four brothers: William, John, Chalmer, and Gary Van Rheenen.

Val will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Those he left will always cherish the many memories he made in his lifetime.
